Digital Photography Level 1

Have you just bought a DSLR or had one for a long time 'stuck' in Auto mode?  Feeling overwhelmed? Frustrated?

Take control of your DSLR now with this hands-on workshop. This is an 8 hour introductory course that assumes little or no prior knowledge of your camera or photo composition. This course aims to get beginner photographers comfortable with the camera and its most useful functions. Giving them key photographic terminology and basic tips and tricks for creating more compelling photos.

The content of the course is based on the features and knowledge required for Digital SLR (DSLR) cameras only.

Please Note: Classes are open to ANY brand of camera: Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji and any other intermediate to advanced cameras (as long as they can be operated in 'manual' mode. i.e. NOT point-and-shoots).

What is Included:

  • 8 hours of classroom instruction

  • Class notes

  • Access to Online support through a private Social media group:download additional notes and resources, upload photographs for feedback from me and connect with your classmates after your class.

What Is Covered:

You will learn all about pixels, resolution, ISO, white balance, focus lock, exposure compensation and will be introduced to the uses of different lenses.

A significant amount of time will be spent ensuring that you understand the foundations of photography, creative exposure, depth of field and shutter speed and how these are controlled by the semi-manual modes on your camera.

An introduction to the rules of composition will also be explored and you will learn how to review and critique your work and improve your shots through applying simple compositional rules and using natural light effectively.

At the end of this course I aim to have you taking photos in semi-manual modes, controlling your depth of field and shutter speed.
